Enquête – Interactieve Mobiele Spraak/Taal Hulpmiddelen – Spraak, Taal & Communicatie

Expert users at the forefront of innovation assessment

Wim Moeyaert Wim Moeyaert (W.I.T. vzw) was a protagonist in the daily battle towards an inclusive society. He died a few months ago, too young and still full of “inclusion” energy. He had a very important skill set: being a human inclusion library, aware of all possible assistive technology solutions, but equally of legislations, subsidies, accessibility, adaptations, etc. that could further and improve the life of people with disabilities. As a beacon in the overly complicated world of inclusion policies and support, he offered a much needed wisdom guiding light which he shared alike to those most in need via various initiatives (his activities in various NGOs, presentations, lobbying with policy makers, speaker at international forums, etc.). I had the opportunity and luck to know Wim for the past 8 years as a colleague, friend, and a real partner in crime when it concerned inclusion. As expert user, Wim also went that extra step, to explore new technologies, try them out and share his experiences with the wide community of peers with disabilities in Flanders, Belgium, Europe and beyond, but equally with the producers of such technologies. Such interaction is crucial because assistive technologies do not always work the way [...]

Higher education and Latin America: you are from a HEI and would like to coordinate a project between Latin America and Europe?

LA HEI students EU support to Higher Education contributes to building the EU-LA Common Higher Education Area objective (set out for the first time by the Heads of State and Government of EU-LAC through the Declaration of Guadalajara in 2004, and reiterated during the successive EU-LAC Summits) is recognised as a strategic element for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations between the two regions. Higher education institutions (HEIs) play a leading role as a driver of socio-economic development to overcome social inequality in Latin America by improving the quality of national education systems. We have written an entire proposal for such specific call on Supporting Higher Education in Latin America, and would like to submit under ERASMUS+ (call details to be published later this year, but to be submitted most likely in January-February 2018). We are looking for: reliable Higher education Institution from EU (preferably Spanish speaking country) to act as coordinator with expertise in inclusive education and accessible OERs with expertise in Latin America cooperation or having at least cooperated in the past with at least ONE Latin American country and HEI. All other partners are already in place. You can send your expressions of interest to info[@] for the [...]

Wim Moeyaert (1977-2017)

Dear friends, colleagues, Wim Moeyaert (22 mei 1977 – 20 maart 2017) Some of you have worked in the past and maybe even today on a variety of inclusion projects and initiatives which were influenced or originally conceived and/or thought out by my expert-user friend Wim Moeyaert from Belgium. Some of you will have met Wim during one of our many events we organised together in Brussels, providing his expert insight and knowledge, willing to share it with anybody, bringing people together… even travelling abroad to share his expertise and experiences. My dear friend Wim is no longer, he died peacefully this afternoon, at the young age of 39. In his legacy, we must make sure that his spirit of striving for a full inclusive society continues to live on, everywhere, anywhere. With warmest thoughts to a real partner in crime. Karel Van Isacker CEO [...]
